Hi, I'm Becca.
I’m so excited to meet you! Here’s just a little about me: I’m 30, use she/her pronouns, and live in southern New Hampshire with my husband, Mark (who, yes, I did meet in Kindergarten), our baby boy, Arden Emyr, and our dog, Myla Sun. I have a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Psychology concentration, and minors in Art and Grief, Loss, + Trauma. I’m technically a Registered Yoga Teacher and I also like to write just for fun!
Here are some things I love: chubby-cheeked babies, tattoos, animals, and scrunchy-nosed kisses. Doughnuts, big-belly laughs, bold lipstick (always), and late-night adventures. Rocks and gems (especially opal, which is my son's and my birthstone) and smashing the patriarchy, of course. Hiking, camping, being in nature, and all-around trying to do my best to help save the environment. Funny socks, cuddle parties, pillow forts, playing hide-and-seek, and sweet notes + love letters. Bubble machines, glitter, and asking you really deep, personal questions about your life before it is socially-appropriate to do so.
I’m a Scorpio, my Myers-Briggs type is Introversion • Intuition • Thinking • Judging • Turbulent (INTJ-T / The Architect). I’m Enneagram Type 3w2. And, finally, my love languages are Quality Time and Words of Affirmation (so if you’ve worked with me, send along a review!).
Photography Style + Philosophy
If I absolutely had to define it, I’d say my work has a lifestyle / documentary vibe— primarily candid shots, with directions as needed, leading to natural-looking, authentic photos. I love photographing you in the world in motion. But, here’s the thing: I want to capture whatever is authentic to YOU. I’ve been photographed by those with a “dramatic” or “artistic” style, and others with a “classic” style. My wedding photos, for example, were very posed and dramatic. At the end of the day, my favorite pictures were ones my bridesmaids took of me on their cellphones. Why? Because those were the ones I felt captured my true self, and how I felt on that day. Honestly, sometimes a photographer’s style just doesn’t vibe with who you are and what feels authentic. I know I simply won’t be the photographer for everyone, and that’s okay, but I’m also open to experimenting with you! If drama/romance is your thing, and that feels comfortable to you, then it will look comfortable and natural on you in photos. Likewise, if someone else is goofy and can’t make a serious face to save their life, that’s what looks best on them. And that’s what I want to capture. My ultimate goal is to give you photos you absolutely can’t stop looking at—the ones that put a smile on your face time and time again. Because these are your photos, your moments—I want them to feel real to you, not posed.
I also believe in being there through the hard moments. Grief and pain are real, valuable emotions that deserve sensitivity, time, and attention. There is beauty in our range of experience, in our range of life. Whether you are going through stillbirth / infant loss, end-of-life loss, or if you are reclaiming your identity after sexual or physical trauma, I will support you in any way I can through the arts. Please, never feel uncomfortable asking for what your heart needs. I am currently an active Affiliate Photographer (volunteer) for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, an organization offering free black & white portraiture for families experiencing stillbirth. As a final note, I hate that we live in a world where this needs to be said, but I am 1000% accepting of however you love, however you live, and whoever you are. No matter your sexual orientation, gender expression, religious or spiritual identity, ethnic/racial background, physical/mental development, age, economic class, or immigration status, I can assure you I am the photographer who will be your absolute biggest fan, hype you up, and literally be OBSESSED with you (I am a Scorpio, after all).
